Summary

Noraxon – myoMETRICS Portable Lab is a “biomechanics lab-in-a-box” built on a modular platform that offers users the flexibility to capture high-fidelity data in a location independent manner.

My Role

As Motion Graphics Designer, I was in charge of creating a video to promote the launch of Noraxon’s product myoMETRICS Portable Lab. I collaborated with our creative director, account executives, and client to launch the video.

Storyboard

During the initial project meeting, the client described the main message for the video should be “every muscle, every movement, everywhere.” The creative director, client and I met to come up with the idea of showcasing the portability of the product by telling the story of traveling to different places in one day. With the concept in place and after receiving footage shot by the client I was able to put together two storyboard directions.

Footage

One challenge with this project was the lack of budget for filming. The majority of the footage I received was handheld and shaky. After collecting all the footage from the client, I watched all the clips and organized them into folders: good to use, could use, do not use. As I watched the clips, I also made sure to note time stamps for usable sections.

Infographics

My top goal was to create an easy way to portray the type of information that is captured through myoMETRICS Portable Lab. I decided to overlay the data captured over the video of a person performing the action. My approach was to start with one of the actions being performed, a person running, and illustrate how it would appear. Then I double checked with the client to make sure the information was accurate.

Animate

Once I began animating, I decided to complete one section in order to show the client and get the ok before continuing as the rest of the video would follow the same style. I used tools such as Twixtor and masking techniques to create the slow-motion scenes. Then to add the infographic overlays I used camera trackers to keep all the details where they need to be while also following the person’s movement.

Feedback Loop

During the entire project, I made sure to keep in constant contact with the client. It was important that the infographic overlays were accurate and represent real data. In order to do that I made sure to show each overlay scene to the client to get feedback and/or approval before putting it all together.
